about Dr. Bhat

Sunny has always had an innate understanding of natural law.  At a young age he gravitated towards the order of mathematics, physics and chemistry, but truly found his calling when he began to explore biology.  A unique path led him from a Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Engineering and Masters of Arts in Medical Sciences at Boston University, to molecular cardiology research at Vanderbilt University. While in Tennessee he attended a 200-hr yoga teacher training and learned about the ancient basis of the interrelation of structure and function, movement and nutrition, health and dis-ease.

While teaching yoga, he learned about osteopathy from a patron complaining about how hard it was to find a practicing Traditional Osteopath in this country.  He soon discovered an entire art and science of conventional medicine hiding in plain sight.  After spending a few months in India studying yoga and Ayurveda, he found Osteopathic Medicine as a perfect balance to reconcile treating disease with modern medicine, and optimizing health and wellness that has been the emphasis of most ancient healing disciplines around the world.  Over the next eight years, he dedicated his life to learning and understanding all aspects of health and disease, delivering over 200 babies and assisting his patients from birth to death in obtaining a higher quality and function of life.  He honed his skills in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine by treating the majority of his patients in and out of the hospital as well as attending numerous extra-curricular courses and conferences. He received his Board Certification in Osteopathic Family Medicine in 2017 after completing his residency training with the Puyallup Tribal Health Authority and Tacoma General Hospital in Tacoma, WA. He continued on to complete a fellowship at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis, OR and received a second Board Certification in 2018, in the Osteopathic specialty of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (OMM/NMM). Following his fellowship, he apprenticed for 3 years in the San Francisco Bay Area with one of the nations best osteopathic physicians Dr. Melvin Friedman, DO. But after three years the mountains were calling louder than ever, and so he decided with his family to settle in Bozeman, Montana where they knew their growth would be supported.

Sunny is an avid telemark skier, snowboarder, and loves anything involving the outdoors.  He enjoys golf, tennis, surfing, yoga, hiking, camping and exploring ways to create a more conscious, connected, and intentional world to live in.
