Embracing Health to Overcome Dis-ease
Osteopathy is a holistic way to optimize health and maximize function
Doctors of Osteopathy (DOs), as fully licensed physicians, are able to bridge the gap between conventional western medicine and complementary and integrative modalities. In addition to 8 years of training in conventional medicine with osteopathic manipulation, Dr. Bhat has had extensive study in Yoga, Ayurveda, and Functional Medicine (a biochemical approach to nutrition and lifestyle) which he uses to help his patients achieve a greater state of health and wellness.
Osteopathic treatments are unlike anything performed by other practitioners. They are always performed within a medical scope to augment the health of the patient and support the body, mind and spirit. His patients have described his treatments as subtle, sensitive and energetic, yet he uses firm and precise pressure to release deep structures such as spinal ligaments, hip flexors, visceral organ, nerves and even strains within the bone to obtain and maintain better balanced states of health.
Osteopathic Physicians are trained to use a wide breadth of physical manipulation techniques. Some manipulations are very active such as those that have been adapted by physical therapists and chiropractors. Others are much more passive and gentle akin to those adapted by massage therapists. Using the right tools to meet the patient where they are, Dr. Bhat has the ability to make much deeper and longer lasting impacts on health. While Osteopathy is best known for treating musculoskeletal problems like back, neck and jount pains, it has wide applications for improving physiologic function in everything from gastrointestinal discomfort to neurologic and autoimmune conditions.
